Vi lever i en verden i kontinuerlig forandring. I morgen bliver ikke helt som i dag. Og i overmorgen vil der endnu flere “nye boller på suppen …”.
Derfor er det ikke længere tilstrækkeligt, at vi tror, at vi kun kan lære noget, når vi sidder på skolebænken eller på et konferencecenter.
Nej, vi bliver nødt til at erkende og anerkende, at læring kan (vil?) finde sted hvor-som-helst, når-som-helst og i berøring med hvad-som-helst.
Som J. W. Gardner påpeger i sin bog: Self-Renewal, 1964, s. 12:
“The ultimate goal of the educational system is [ought to be] to shift to the individual the burden of pursuing his own education. This will not be a widely shared pursuit until we get over our odd conviction that education is what goes on in school buildings and nowwhere else. Not only does education continue when schooling ends, but it is not confined to what may be studied in adult education courses. The world is an incomparable classroom, and life is an a memorable teacher for those who aren´t afraid of her.”
